Squire Strategies

As an employment attorney and HR consultant admitted in Tennessee, California and Texas. Dan advises and represents clients from those in the startup phase to those in business for decades. He also serves as a consultant for the TSBDC and an adjunct professor in UTC’s Rollins College of Business.

About

Following his graduation from Baylor University and Baylor Law School, Dan served as a judge advocate in the U. S. Marine Corps.  As chief trial counsel at Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, North Carolina, he earned the Navy Commendation Medal, awarded for his meritorious legal service.

Dan entered private practice in 1990 in Chattanooga with the law firm of Miller & Martin PLLC.  In his nearly twenty years as a member of the firm’s labor and employment practice group, Dan worked daily with all levels of management with a wide range of companies, including the firm’s largest client, Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE).  In 1996, he was selected to serve as captive counsel for CCE’s West Group, headquartered in Los Angeles.  In this position, Dan was directly responsible for CCE’s labor and employment matters in 14 states.  After a decade in this position, Dan returned to the firm’s Nashville office.  In 2009, he was recruited back to Chattanooga to join the labor and employment practice group at Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C.

As an attorney admitted in Tennessee, California and Texas, Dan has represented clients in all phases of proceedings in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.  He has extensive experience in equal employment opportunity matters, employee and management training, alternative dispute resolution, and traditional labor law, including representation elections, arbitrations, and contract negotiation and administration.

Dan currently serves as an instructor for the Tennessee Small Business Development Center and adjunct professor for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Gary W. Rollins College of Business, where he teaches both Government Regulation of Human Resource Management and Labor Relations and Negotiations.  He also volunteers as a mentor and instructor for the College’s annual Veterans Entrepreneurship Program.

Dan is also active in the Chattanooga nonprofit community.  He is currently Past President of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce’s Southside Council Board of Directors and has served as Chair of the Chamber’s Spirit of Innovation Award Committee for the past two years.  Dan is a member of the Board of Directors for Girls Inc. of Chattanooga and serves on the organization’s Governance Committee and Ad-Hoc Human Resources Committee.  He is also a City Leader for Bunker Labs, a national nonprofit that supports veteran and military family member entrepreneurs.

Since shortly after his return to Chattanooga and the creation of The Company Lab (CO.LAB.), Dan has volunteered as a dedicated mentor and instructor for its various programs.

Just as a squire once protected the knight, Dan formed Squire Strategies in 2013 to protect companies from costly lawsuits, lost productivity, and lower employee morale.  Dan is dedicated to developing and implementing proactive strategies tailored to fit the unique needs of each of his clients.
